How much does your vote really count? As a voter, does your choice really matter? How much influence does the media have on your vote? How many choices does the media actually make when it comes to our nation's leadership? These are questions pondered by both political scientists and the average American citizen each year as the second Tuesday in November approaches. Though we know that the framers founded this nation on the principles of representing it's citizens, and on the ideals of a nation for the people and by the people; it is obvious that the people feel that their vote doesn't always count. In this paper I plan to expand on these questions and the justifications behind asking them, and I plan to follow up with a specific…show more content…
Thousands of our nation's men and women were fighting for their country, yet the media limited the amount of information that they chose to pass on to the public. Each day the media is faced with the choice of making decisions of what news to pass on, when that news could make a significant difference in someone's life, or in the fate of our nation.
How much does the media effect your choices in voting? When we first ask this question, we think of the obvious. The media informs us of canidates, their personal backgrounds, their ideology, their stances on issues, things they do in the community they represent, and the platform on which they plan to run. However, once they get past the initial introduction, they "tend to be highly critical of politicians; they consider it their job to find inaccuracies in fact and weakness in argument." (Janda et al., 192) They force the faults of politicians on us, seldom speaking of the positive aspects from that point on. This, in turn, gives the voters a negative vision of their representatives as leaders. If faults are constantly being pointed out, voters begin to think that all politicians are incompetent and unable, and therefore see no need to vote. The media does not intentionally force these negative views upon the mass public; rather they point out the faults because it makes a better story. Although the media does not directly create or change opinions, it tells the public what to think about. By using priming
Essay is good but a starting paragraph should must be v impressing because it immediately creates a viewpoint for the whole essay to reader. it should always start it with impressing thought for example u can start it from this paragraph:
When complaints are freely heard, deeply considered, and speedily reformed then is the outmost bound of civil liberty attained. That wise man looks for Milton
No power on this earth can block the truth as its God who, being the truth himself, always guards it. Nowhere in the history could the truth ever be suppressed, it always revealed itself in some other form and with dangerous consequences. British philosopher John Stuart Mill underlined the need for free speech mainly for three reasons. he believes that freedom to read and write is an important element to expose and reveal the truth, to ensure self-development and self-fulfillment of citizens and to help ensure participation of the citizens in a democracy.
Not only the starting paragraph but every new outline or paragraphs first lines should be impressing. it gives a very good and thoughtful effect on your writing. As when after introduction you will write on media in Pakistan then start like:
(the Pakistani media is an enthusiastic member of the new warrior clan of the 21st century and despite belonging to war torn country. is playing active role in keeping with the demands of the modern times. by airing in divergent views and cross questioning on significant national and social issues the media reflects and informs public opinion and practically shares the task of parliament.(then write as u wrote in your essay on Pakistani media it was just an example starting paragraph and you can write some more good material or your own good starting Paras.
One thing more I would say the essay on media always comes with a different side it is not in a simple form that media in Pakistan or role of media. it is always in a different form like the role of media and terrorism, the positive role of media in politics or its effects or yellow journalism etc etc.then u can also add an outline of media as the fourth pillar of the state
I hope these tips will be useful for you. you doing good bas every time you start new paragraph ,start it with impressing lines.your concusion paragraph was excellent. Keep it up. Best of luck.
