UCLA Development/University Fundraising – Shadowing a Fundraiser


Units include:

 

Development - Herb Alpert School of Music
Project: University Fundraising - Shadowing a Fundraiser
Working directly with experienced fundraisers in the UCLA Apert School of Music, the intern will learn about rewarding careers in fundraising. The intern will shadow fundraisers and learn how to research and identify potential UCLA supporters; cultivate and solicit donors; and share with donors the impact of their support. The interns will also learn how fundraisers in the School of Music collaborate with other professionals such as researchers, event planners, and communications officers to help donors achieve their philanthropic goals. The intern will assist with events and attend donor meetings when appropriate.

 

Development - School of Dentistry
Project: University Fundraising - Shadowing a Fundraiser

The UCLA School of Dentistry Development Intern will assist the Development Department with fundraising efforts for the Bloomfield Venice Dental Care Center through written solicitations, research of prospective donors and stewardship of scholarship donors. The intern will also write and submit written stewardship reports for all endowed scholarship donors in conjunction with Dentistry’s Board of Counselor’s Chair to help reach the Centennial Campaign goal for dentistry to raise $10 Million in scholarship support.


Development - Cardiology/Metabolism
Project: University Fundraising - Shadowing a Fundraiser

Working directly with experienced fundraisers in Health Sciences Development, the intern will learn about rewarding careers in healthcare fundraising. The intern will shadow fundraisers and learn how to research and identify potential UCLA supporters; cultivate and solicit donors; and share with donors the impact of their support. The interns will also learn how fundraisers in health sciences collaborate with other professionals such as physicians, researchers, event planners, and communications officers to help donors achieve their philanthropic goals. The intern will assist with events and attend donor meetings when appropriate.

 


Development - Intercollegiate Athletics
Project: University Fundraisining - Shadowing a Fundraiser
Working directly with experienced fundraisers in the Athletics Development office, The intern will assist with all aspects of all the UCLA Development Office, which includes the Wooden Athletic Fund, Bruin Varsity Club, capital campaigns, endowments, donor events, membership solicitation and renewals, general office operations and customer service. The intern will gain knowledge of how t effectively steward donors in order to build lasting relationships with the university. In learning how to maintain our annual fund donor cultivation and stewardship, the intern will also have the opportunity to directly experience the relationship between a development officer and donors by having one-on-one and group interactions with donors on the phone and in person.


Development - UCLA Professional Schools
Project: University Fundraising - Shadowing a Fundraiser

Working directly with the Senior Executive Director leading fundraising efforts for UCLA professional schools, the intern will learn about rewarding careers in fundraising. The intern will shadow fundraisers and learn how to research and identify potential UCLA supporters; cultivate and solicit donors; and share with donors the impact of their support. The interns will also learn how fundraisers collaborate with other professionals such as researchers, event planners, and communications officers to help donors achieve their philanthropic goals. The intern will assist with events and attend donor meetings when appropriate.


UCLA SPARK - Crowdfunding/Crowdsourcing

Project: Crowdfunding for a University
Under the supervision of the SPARK crowdfunding team, this intern will work to uncover pools of alumni constituents who were once members of currently and formerly existing student organizations, clubs, teams, societies, and shared-interest groups. Through in depth research of UCLA history, the intern will be responsible for conducting outreach calls and supervised meetings which are aimed at re-energizing and reconnecting groups of alumni to each other, and to UCLA, with the ultimate goal of enlisting their help in the upcoming year’s crowdfunding campaigns.

 

 

Alumni Affairs - Data Analysis & Research: Data Visualization

Project:  Data Analysis & Research: Data Visualization
The Partnership UCLA / Alumni Career Programs team oversees a slate of meaningful and impactful programs for students and alumni. With over 5 years of data, we are looking for an intern excited to use creative and analytical skills to turn numbers into a narrative. The intern would look at programs and initiatives, and create materials that would show the impact of alumni programming.

 

Alumni Affairs - Parent & Family Programs: Alumni Relations

Project:  UCLA Parent & Family Association Membership
This project seeks to enhance the understanding and skills of philanthropic engagement and stewardship via a membership based model. The EA intern will have the opportunity to play an integral role in the review, assessment and implementation of the Parent & Family Association Membership program for FY19. Through this work the intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with the process of data analysis, benchmarking, marketing development and website management, as well as the Client Relationship Management database and reports

 

UCLA Communications & Public Outreach - Digital Marketing Strategy & Analytics

Project: Digital Marketing Strategy & Analytics
Working as a member of the analytics team within digital marketing, the intern will help evaluate the success of digital marketing initiatives against business objectives defined by stakeholders. Project will include partnering with analytics team members to interpret analytics reports and make strategic recommendations for improvement, meeting with stakeholders to identify business objectives and make recommendations for aligning digital strategies with those objectives and attending digital status meetings and other team meetings as necessary.

 

Development - UCLA School of Nursing

Project: Marketing/Communications/Event Planning 2019 Reunion Celebration
The UCLA School of Nursing will be turning 70 years old in 2019, and so we are in need of an intern to help us generate excitement around this momentous occasion. Major components will include generating an audience, creating marketing and communications materials, and assisting with our legacy project, described in further detail below.n to help shape desired philanthropic and awareness outcomes.
